Just because it's focused more on multimedia than previous consoles doesn't mean it's the reason for the decrease in sales. Look at the Wii. Could you browse the internet, check the weather, news, view saved photos, and socialize with avatars on the N64 or Gamecube??? NO! Now compare the sales. |
I don't know if sony were trying to be a major competitor to the PC, the PS2 was no-way near, the PS3 is still too far away. When the PS1 first came out, PCs were 'how can I say it, just poo'. And since the first 3D accelerator card ' Voodoo' first came out, consoles have been playing catch up ever since.
But I do have a though
If microsoft though that sony were trying to enter the PC market via software (be it a operating system, software like word etc), all this was at a time people saw Bill Gates as the devil and microsoft as the Evil empire and sony could do nothing wrong at this time, it might of had microsoft worried a little. And when microsoft are worried they tend to destory the competition........................
But how to destory a household name like sony ? bring out the xbox and then 360 no matter the cost and pay game companys to make games for only our machine. Bring it out first even if its faulty, we have so much money we will sort it out. And it seems to be working as sonys name has been dragged though the mud not only with the PS3 but others parts of sony as well, including over priced TVs etc.
PC gaming rules.....
