60gb PS3 backwards compatibilty was not a fan service, it failed the fans.

That is where your logic fails.

60Gb buyers were early adopters which tend to be a lot less casual and know a lot more about the specs of the hardware they are purchasing...

BC was nice gift for early adopters, that's all it was...

Not really, hardcore user != technical user. There were a lot of people in the early days who bought a PS3 because of the word "Playstation" and the general rule that people are technically incompetent still applies.

 

 

 So what perk exactly did early 360 or Wii adopters get ?
