The term "____ proof" usually means that whatever is in the blank is protected against, like "water proof" and "fire proof". Well, considering what has happened with the PS3, "future proof" could end up mean that it is protected from having any form of a future. The $500-$600 launch price, advent of the Wii, and the 360 (at less money) holding its own, are cases for Sony "future proofing itself".
