The problem with this is, that in 2009, unless Sony will put backwards compatibility in the PS3, they are left with not providing people a way to play a ton of their old PS2 content. They are now chained to the PS2. Not sure what happens to customer loyalty if you stop enabling them to play their old games. At that point, the consider anything out there.
