We can treat it like a test case, I live in Trinidad & Tobago (T'dad specifically)

I have had a lot of e-mail correspondance with MS and at the end of the day I had to call the support number in the U.S. to initiate the repair process.

I don't mean to gripe but that was a pretty dam annoying conversion. I'm not going to go into the greatest detail but here's a summary of the questions the support technician asked me and the number of times has actually asked it throughout the conversion.

Where is Trinidad? - 3 (could u at least pretend u know, put me on hold and find out??)

What is your first name? - 4 (each time he asked it was like the first time for him)

What is your last name? - 2 (improvement on the first name at least.)

How do you spell it - 6 ( i spelt it when u asked me the 6 times!!)

Is Trinidad in Cuba? - 3 (oh..)

Which part of the United States am I from? - 2 (one is enough geez)

Am I a moron? - well i wished he asked that..

Anyway. this doesn't reallt portray the true annoyance of the situation that day. Believe me it felt a lot worse.

The last 5 minutes of the conversation actually went quite well because he basically repeated the answers to all the questions he asked in summary form and got it right for the most part.

He then proceeded to say that the only way for me to fix it was to ship the system to a friend or family in the U.S., have them call in when the reference number (which he provided to me), update the address/location/status data, ship it to MS repair center from there, and when finished repairing, will be shipped back to my friend/family.

The hassle in this is that I don't know anyone really savvy enough (or even KNOW them good enough) to handle the correspondance (provding ref. nos and all that). Secondly, it will cost be approx. US$150 to ship it to my friend/family, and to return it to me, well that another shipping cost, in addition to having to pass through customs in my country, who will SHAFT you with duties.

If I can send it with someone who is already going up to the states and vice versa, that would be cool but I don't know if ppl would be too pleased with lugging around that heavy piece of rubbish.

MS has a global policy of console repair, too bad it didn't help me much here.

P.S. If this can be done at absolutely minimal cost then the 360 has a future with me. If not, well, byebye 360. I am not giving them any more of my money man, seriously.
