It doesn't worry me at all. Consumers demand more that's just the way it is. We cannot stick with this generation. Also we cannot stick with these graphics forever.

The gaming market is just too small for a game like Okami. It's a good game, but this game hadn't been accepted by enough people. That's the risk of innovation, trying to be different. It does not always work out very well. Today capcom says this game is not profitable enough for us.

Lair is just a mistake, the game is very niche. And they over-used the six-axis controls. The industry learned that this is not the way to implement six-axis controls.

What do we want? Sticking with this generation will lead to a greater variety of games. Or do we want to maintain only the main genres and franchises with high quality?

Developers need to anticipate in the evolving market. We are getting enough games to please us. The industry won't be killed. It's just getting mature. The big boys are getting involved. Sega had to downgrade to software only and many developers have died. Also many developers have risen.

The future is bright with new emerging markets (China, India), new technology (3dTV, voice command, motion). This will advance in higher quality and more variety.

Obviously there are dangers for developers. How can we attract new markets, how do we use new technology?

Sometimes it seems a bit unfair, when big publishers are using their marketing machines to market their games. While little developers are struggling with their games to attract the attention of the masses. That's the system it depends too much on economics. Money is king. Although money doesn't solve everything.

Gamers choose what they play. And that's sometimes annoying because masses don't know what is good or bad. Still they have the right to make their own choices. As a gaming community we need to help these gamers to make the right choices. Those are not always a AAA titles, most of the time it's a casual game.
