The next Sony Console should be a pure games machine and nothing else.

Sony had a crap strategy (based on the assumption brand name was all they needed to succeed).  That's why they find themselves in such a difficult position now.  The world doesn't need and wasn't ready for a $600 console that tries to be a PC.

If Sony had gone games only, they would probably further lose out to Nintendo and Microsoft.

If they had gone games only and released a $250 console Xbox360 would probably have died off by now and PS3 would probably be neck and neck with Wii in sales.  All the third parties backed Sony before this gen started and only slow PS3 sales (and a bit of Microsoft dollars) has forced them to go multiplatform.

If not for blu ray Sony would have been able to release a console people could afford and it would have sold much more than it has.

Exactly.  But you are contradicting yourself.  The reason Sony could not release an affordable console was due to Blu-Ray.  You suggest a $250 console would have been the right choice but at the same time are saying Blu Ray was the right choice.  What Sony should have done was release a console without Blu Ray and things would be very different now.  Of course though neither Microsoft or Nintendo could go bankrupt though.  The success of DS alone is enough to make Nintendo an extremely profitable company and Windows means Microsoft will always have too much money.
