Drems would be completely pointless to view for anything other than fun. Dreams are simply randomly firing synapses getting peaced together to make some kind of sense. They are not (normally) a view into your sub-conscious nor are they used to prove someone is crazy.
OT: I am interested to see the study. It sounds like they watched the brain as it was trying to visualize the objects and then tryed to find that specific pattern of brain waves. If that is the case then we are still very far away from any practical use.
