I think the only figure I would repeat is the 55 million HD Sets was reported by the CEO of a company making HD sets as the market for 2007. This was on CNBC which I watch regularly for market news. Remember these 55 million sets go in mnay more rooms nowadays than just the living room, and include small sets and large sets. So obviously "half" (which it's not more than half, 115 million US households) would not all have to be buying sets. Regardless, last year HD sets outsold SD sets so that's where the trend is headed in the US.
