DD=Pirate Heaven No one is buying games for PC(regardless of how many games are being played on it) PC comes out with more games then consoles......yea, I have been looking for that Wedding Planner game all my life and its exclusive to PC -_-.... It has a bit of the Wii, DS thing going on with massive mounds of shovel ware for it is the easiest platform to make games for(all games start on PC after all). Yet majority of these games sell below sub par. No PC version of a Multiplat game has out done it's Console counter parts, reference CoD4 for proof. |
Could anyone be more deluded than you?
1) Digital Distribution is not the cause of Piracy, nor has it helped the growth of it. Almost all the cracked games are directly from DVDs.
2) PC is by far the platform with the highest selling software. In 2007, PC sold as many games as the average console in the US on retail, a console-centric country. And that is not even talking about the games sold through Digital Distribution, nor the $1 billion made from subscriptions on PC in the US only. Trust me, no doubt that PC is selling more games than Wii and Xbox 360 combined. I mean, if Xbox 360 or Wii can't sell more games than PC in the US, then imagine how much PC is crushing them in Europe and Continental Asia. And ofcourse, this is not even touching the fact that there's an insane amount of revenue from subscriptions, microtransactions and whatnot.
3) The most popular platform will always have it's share of low-budget and shovelware games, especially if it's an open platform that has the lowest development costs. The great thing is that due to that, all the indie and small developers will flock on PC and make some amazing games. You see, since the development costs on consoles are so huge, small developers just stop supporting consoles in favour of PC. Some of them end up amazing games like Mount & Blade, Aquaria and, best of all, 2008 GOTY award-winning Sins of a Solar Empire (a budget less than $1 million).
It's consoles loss if they aren't viable for the large majority of small and indie developers.
4) LOL, you really think COD4 sold more on a console than PC?? Dude, COD4 has been in the top 5 best selling PC games every month, since it's release. Imo it has probably reach 10 millions sold on PC by now. COD4 is STILL selling full priced on PC, one freaking year after it's release, and is still in the top10 of D2D and Steam.
Dude, just look at PC's lineup on gamerankings (which doesn't even have all PC games listed), and the insanse amount of high-quality of almost any genre, like RPGs, on PC.
