Hmm, since I saw this topic come back and I was getting angry with R:FoM and decided it was time to quit for the day, I decided to give Home another try:
- The Hell? I don't always start in my apartment? Not a gripe, just odd I guess. Do I ever actually have a reason to go back to my apartment?
- Had to download the theatre again
- Try to watch the previews but there are people and text bubbles in the way so I leave the theater. If I want to watch the same preview over and over again, I have the internet to watch them in better quality.
- Have to download the central plaza again
- Is it really just playing the same preview over and over again? This is the 5th time now I've seen the rocket boy preview while waiting for the central plaza to download. Oh yes, the future of home entertainment is watching the same short preview over and over again. Maybe they keep showing it over and over again so each time I can see different parts since so much of it is obscured by text bubbles.
- And now I'm just watching a progress bar because I'm sick of watching the same preview over and over again. Why is it taking so long to get a 20.5mb download? I have a stupid fast connection.
- Weeee, central plaza downloaded now lets wait for it to load!
- Play Saucer Pop for a few minutes-- boring game with pathetic frame rate
- still getting choppy frame rate walking around the central plaza
- Find a bubble machine and apparently it's a fun bubbly toy
- Still get a scene download error when I try to enter this one building and get stuck again-- it's good to see they're really taking advantage of this "beta" and fixing this bugs!...oh, wait.
- Try to go to the bowling alley...and it has to download again. At least this one is going much faster, maybe I won't get up and make a sandwich.
- What is this damn hip hop music that keeps playing? Is there anyway to change it?
- bad frame rate for about the first 30 seconds I'm here. Maybe I'm only getting the shit framerate on area load.
- What do you know, every pool table is taken.
- so is every bowling lane
- ...and of course every arcade machine too.
- See dudes huddled around a hot girl dancing-- $10 it's a dude. lol, they're asking the "chick" if they can be their friend or if she wants to come with them. God people are pathetic. What is ji?
- I wait a minute to play ice breakers, it gets free, I press the button, the menu comes up to play it, and before I press the button to play someone ran up and snagged it. Fuck you guy.
- make another run through the bowling alley and everything is still taken. Fuck this.
Yeah, so I gave Home two weeks and it's still just as bad as before. It still even has the game breaking error I got two weeks ago, beta my ass! Has anything even changed in the two weeks? I assume something has changed since I had to download all the areas again.
And still the waiting for games. When I last bitched about that people told me it was because Home was new and crowded. It has now been two weeks and it's a Monday in the middle of the afternoon and still nothing was free.
So yeah, I'm gonna go with Live is still the better service. I may have to pay for it, but you generally get what you pay for.
