Sorry if I am going a bit overboard but I just have a hard time understanding how Sony gives it for free, Nintendo gives it for free, tons of PC programs give it for free and yet one of the biggest and richest companies in the World feel the need to charge for it. Not just by console mind you, but by account.

How would they make profit otherwise ? Let's say 14 million gold accounts it's 70'000'000 per month or 840'000'000 per year if you prefer.
