Gov. Blagojevich has appointed former Ill. Attorney General Roland Burris as the successor to Obama in the Senate. This appointment, which Senate Democrats have vowed will not be seated by the Democrati Caucus, puts the Democrats in a precarious situation. They can either maintain their position and refuse to seat any appointment made by Blagojevich, or they could acquiesce and seat a respected politician who would be the only African-American in the Senate. It appears as if they will maintain their position.
