The HD consoles are like fine dining restaurants while the Wii is much more like a family restaurant. While the overly pretentious foodie will look down at a family restaurant, the family restaurant fits into the typical person’s budget and lifestyle much better than a fine dining restaurant does. A family restaurant is often silly and less refined, and they may have menu items that a foodie thinks are abominations (like Macaroni and Hot-Dogs), but when the food is well cooked it is pleasant enough to suit the tastes of most people.

Now, people will argue that the tastes of people who eat at family restaurants are less sophisticated than the foodie but I would not say that is (necessarily) the case. Realistically, a lot of the appeal of the family restaurant has nothing to do with the food. There is a convenience factor of not having to cook and not needing a reservation; there is the social factor of being able to take your 15 closest friends somewhere and being able to just have a lot of fun without upsetting anyone; and there is the accessibility factor, where you can take anyone from a 1 year old to a 100 year old to the restaurant without any problems.
