I'm seconds away from firing up my PS3, but no. Live is still better. Is it worth $50 a year? That's your opinion. Here are the bullet points:

-Live has a visual representation of the people on your friends list. PSN just has a list of names. (and don't say Home's avatars. I have NEVER seen anyone on my friends list in Home......and unlike a lot of people, I enjoy Home a lot!)
-Live lets you see what your friends online are doing AND what your friends offline have done (example: Elgefe02 last seen playing Gears of War 2 seven hours ago....)
-Live lets you see and compare your friends entire game library and which games they have achievements in AND which achievements they've earned. PSN only lets you see Trophy supported games
-Live has cross game chatting (wich I've never used)
-Live has Netflix wich I swear by!! It is amazing to me!
-Live is connected to Xbox.com and Xbox Live Nation.com. If you have a computer and a gamertag, you can see the progress of and message an XBox 360 player.
-For me at least, using the exact same internet service provider, PSN games lag more and drop off more than the 360 counter part(s). (Super Street Fighter 2 is my only experience, although I will try COD4 later tonight)
-Live has scheduled Lady's nights, kid/family nights, co-op nights, and other multiplayer nights
-Live still has much more downloadable content than the PS3 (downloadable games, wallpapers, music videos, tv shows, movies, game add ons, demos, etc)
-Live's gamer profiles are WAY more in depth than the PSN's options
-ALL XBL games have leaderboards. I've spent a good amount of time competing against a friend high score without them even knowing it.
-you can see your FRIEND'S friends too. Madskillz is friends with Elgefe, but not me!? That dirty sunnovabits!!

In it's favor, the PS3's web browser is pretty damned good. I use it all the time.

Both are good, but the PSN is still a good bit behind XBL. Most of this stuff doesn't matter to a large portion of gamers. Both kick the Wii's online directly in the pussy. XBL has just been around longer, and has had time to get better.

-Wrong, you have a friends list, that includes an avatar even if not visual representation you have home for that u can invite them over to your apartament/summer house, the name, if they are available or away, what game they are playing, also, a list that players you have meet in game which games, and a link to compare your trophies.

But it's no more than a "gamerpic", not an  avatar.  Half of my friends are Nathan Drake.  And while it tells you what game they are playing, it doesn't tell me what games they WERE playing.

-same for PSN, also you can check that outside your ps3 in playstation.com, if tells you what was the last time they were online too (like 3 hours ago)

I was totally unaware.  Thanks!

-as i said you can in the psn too, you have a "compare trophies" feature that lets you compare games and trophies. it show you the game u guys have in common and game that don't have in common too. with 50% of completition.

Comparing trophies is cool, but when the vast majority of PS3 games don't have trophies at all........

-same on the psn, you can message game ingame thanks to the ingame XMB, and it's blazing fast! unless you are loading something.

Messaging in game, and having a voice chat supported converstation in game are two different things.  It is blazing fast, though.  Me and a guy from Britain were texting non-stop last night about Prince of Persia.

-ps3 have blu ray player and a playstation store, not only that u can stream netflix to your psn and any file. you can install linux if you want to have PC - like experience.

I have a Blu- ray player (PS3).  I have no idea how to install linux.  I guess I'm just dim.

- PSN have merged with playstation.com a while ago anything you seen in the Friends Tab XMB u can see it there.

I didn't know about playstation.com.  Still, the info you get from the xmb is not as detailed as what you get from the 360's friends list or xbox.com.  I'll try it later though.  I gotta leave for work in 40 minutes!

- thats not true, i play resistance 2 and lbp daily and no lag in anything, both use the PSN for it servers and have a deep integration with them.

Resistance 2 and LBP aren't available for the 360.  I spoke of the only game  I've played that's available on both (Super Street Fighter HD).  I'll try Call of Duty 4 later on tonight.

-we have resistance thurdays, warhawk etc etc also, you can use playstation.co forums to arrange gamming session with players.

Once again, I was unaware.  The 360's gaming nights are advertised on xbox.com, and the Xbox 360's start up screens.  They're put together by people at Microsoft, and not a random gamer.  They even have calenders in the official Xbox Magazine that tell of the scheduled gamer nights.  "Gaming with Fame", "Lady's Night", "Developer's Night", "Professional Gamer's Night", and "Family Night" are all heavily promoted.

- they show the same things as today mentioned first reply.

Don't quite follow what you mean....

- well resistance 2 have leaderboards, metal gear online does too.so in general shooters generally have leaderboards so?.

You've named me two games.  I can name the ENTIRE 360 library.

- friends friends like facebook? i think the its only thing XBL have PSN don't.

Friends, as in "d21lewis would like to be your friend", friends list friends.

but all this i mentioned above is FREE. it comes with PSN.

And I mentioned that the value is up to the individual.  It is free.  And many of the 360's advantages don't matter to most gamers.  I have both, and I love both, but the 360's online is better.  It just does more.

you are paying for it.

Gladly!
