Actually, I could see this starting to happen for real in about 100-150 years. Europe has already taken quite a few steps in this direction.
As for the OP, only someone outside of America would predict this. Personally, while it would suck, something does need to happen in this country. Our leaders get swayed by lobbyists and ignore the problems this country is facing. Instead of looking at the auto industry and fixing it (the auto industry can do this themselves) we're instead throwing money at the problem and hoping it goes away. It isn't going to until we fix (get rid of) unions. Unions serve absolutely no purpose in this day and age. The ONLY thing they do is allow retired people to live super cushy lives (for some reason) and limit people so they do shitty work. I can't fix that burnt out lightbulb, it's not in my job description. The one that made me almost punch a union worker in the face. "The hand soap is on the wrong side of the sink. Please fix it, moving it isn't in my job description."
Getting off track a little complaining about union workers. Anyways, our country deserves to go down if we keep pretending like these problems don't exist. Throwing money at it isn't going to change anything. The funny thing about most union workers, they don't see a problem with getting half your salary upon retirement. They don't see how fundamentally wrong it is that you can't do something as menial as change a lightbulb. They don't see how stupid it is that they can't stay five minutes late at their job to get something done for a customer. Working with stupid/lazy union workers was some of the worst months of my life. I have 10x more respect for people who work at Taco Bell.
