If you think those games are hard then Touhou would make you crap a brick.

Touhou is NOTHING compared to Ikaruga. I've played (and loved) every iteration from 1 to 10.5 and none of them even on the hardest difficulty touch the hair pulling expirience that is Ikaruga.
|
Bleh, your only handicap in Ikaruga is the GC controller. Touhou > Ikaruga.
|
Ooh I see we have a conflict here, Touhou can be done with exceptional reflex and good memorization of pattern, Ikaruga needs good reflex but exceptional memorization of pattern. I think my brain just refuse function in the later case.
I've finished all of the later touhou (Imperishable Night, Perfect Cherry Blossom etc) on hard (lunatic is still a big challenge), but I cannot finish Ikaruga.

I've been playing shoot'em ups since I was little so the reflexes I definitely have. The further you get into Touhou, the more you (or at least I) realize that it's more of a puzzle game and less a shoot'em up almost. I actually really enjoyed that despite getting killed a fair amount. ^_^

Oh no doubt here, Touhou is fantastic, the music alone makes me want to keep playing. The game IS about memorizing pattern too, but Ikaruga's was just a lot more taxing on my brain when compare to Touhou, I too have been playing shmup for a very long time, too long perhaps because Ikaruga's black & white patterns completely mess with my sense.

Proof that no matter how hard you think a game, there will be someone out there who can do it with even more difficulties imposed.
All 5 of those vids are a single guy playing both ships at once. The last one he has also filmed his hands to show you what he does. There are some other impressive videos on that site too, so be sure to look around.
