Dear God no.  The first 6 were great indeed, but the series didn't really give the player more control until FF7.  Plus the transition to 3D let the player actually see where they were instead of just trying out linear after linear pathway that lead to an onslaught of random battles.  ugh

yes and nomura got in, i never loved a FF char or FF so much til he got in charge on character design (RIKKU!), and no FF have the same story, battle system or soundtrack than previous.
