Gameplay mechanics that need to die
Random battles: the only reason they were implemented in the first palce was because there wasn't enough power to display the monsters on screen, turn based is fine, just get rid of random battles.
lives: this was a gimmick in the arcades to get people to put in extra quarters, we don't need them anymore. they are usually just a set back that makes you restart the game where you left off, unnecessary.
