Rol, I hear what you're saying about SRA... It's just that the traveling bits were just so un-Sonic that it was hard to ignore them. The rest of the game was just more Sonic Rush, which is a good thing.

Every time I had to go someplace and suffered through one of those inane jet-boating mini-games, I disliked the game a little more. By the end, I found it painful to even play the bloody thing.

That's Sega's main problem with Sonic games, that they always think that they have to add some gimmicky gameplay and can't rely on Sonic stages alone. Sonic Unleashed is the latest victim. Could have been an excellent game, but the Werehog dragged it down.

No kidding. Take Secret Rings... There were parts of the game that showed real potential to harness 3D in a Sonic game. The speed, the rush, it was all back... and then they had to bugger the controls when you did have to 3D platform and they added what is possibly the stupidest story in the history of videogaming.

Just give us Sonic, make him fast, and have us square off against Robotnik. We don't need Blaze, Knuckles, or any of those other peripheral losers (though Tails can stay) and we don't need some elaborate fucking story. SEGA had a great formula on the Genesis and it's high time they went back to that idea with the series.

Keep It Simple, Stupid.
