I dunno why people still think the 360 is cheaper.

I replaced my RRoD Xenon with a new Jasper recently...

If my purchase had been a new one:

$200, console
$100, 60 GB HDD
$100, wireless adaptor
$15 rechargable controller pack + cord
--------------
$415, unless you want to pump your controller with AA batteries constantly ($15 recharge kit is a steal compared to the AAs)

...pretty sure that's more than the price of a 80GB PS3, and with the PS3, you get a "free" Blu-Ray player, after you consider XBox 360's price. A HDD and wireless adapter are pretty freaking commonplace purchases -- I cannot imagine a serious 360 owner without a HDD (that would suck... no serious number of savegames, no demos, no HDD installs), and not many people care to install wired networking in their homes these days.

You can shop around and get the wireless adaptor for cheaper, why would you buy a console and a harddrive seperately? Batterys don't get eaten up as much as you thin, and wireless being more common than wired??!! I don't think so ... stop flaimbaiting kid.

Umm...  The HDD + console costs the same as the HDD+console combo?  And do you have any idea what AA batteries cost, as well as how much shelf space retail outlets devote to wireless over wired networking?

I guess that sore spot attracted the rabid fanboys who defy logic to make their arguments.  Sorry to all, if I drew those posters into this fine thread.

The HDD + console includes a Headset, ethernet cable, and 3 months of XBL.  Also, I do know what AA batteries cost.  If you get rechargable AA batteries, you can live off of 4 batteries for just $9.  Also, most Homes do have wireless these days, but most consoles still use wired.  You want to know why?  Because most consoles are located in the main living room with the main TV, the cable set top box, the internet router, etc.  Having a simple and cheap ethernet cable (included in 360 purchase or with the 60GB upgrade pack) is much simpler and provides much better connection.

Also, you can use basically any bridged wireless adapter without needing the official Microsoft add-on, for just $30 or less.  Did I mention you also get backwards compatibility with most Xbox games?  Oh, and the Xbox 360 supports 1080p out of the box with the HD component cables, while the PS3 requires a secondary HDMI cable purchase to get HD...

Seems like for an Xbox 360:
$200 + $100 + $9 + $30 = $339 (still much cheaper than a PS3).

PS3:
$400 + $30 - HDMI cable = $430.

Not to mention most people do not NEED a 60GB hard drive.  They can get a 20GB hard drive for just $30 for their 360.

360:
$200 + $30 + $9 = $239 (for a fully HD ready console with 20GB hard drive and rechargable batteries.  No wireless adapter necessary, but if needed, add $30 and get $269.  That's almost $150-200 cheaper than a PS3!!!! GASP!)

I'm sorry that, by posting, you in fact showed your own self as a fanboy, thus inviting this horribly thrashing post of mine to dispose of your so called "logic." If you really spent that much on your new replacement 360 (if you even really do own a 360), then you my friend.... are an idiot uneducated consumer.
