| CrazzyMan said: About hacking stuff, it`s just, most DS games are casual, and casual gamers don`t bother hacking DS. Just look at hardcore 3rd party games sales in NA. Are they above 1 mln.? Not every game pass 300-500k mark. This year DS SW sales: Final Fantasy IV DS Square Enix 371,339 Advance Wars: Days of Ruin Nintendo 355,797 Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village Nintendo 333,696 Chrono Trigger Square Enix 285,965 Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates Square Enix 256,439 Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Square Enix 249,934 Star Wars: The Force Unleashed LucasArts 231,704 This year PSP SW sales: God of War: Chains of Olympus Sony Computer Entertainment 979,082 Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Square Enix 660,250 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories Take 2 512,449 Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories Take 2 461,045 Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War Square Enix 129,146 350,822 Tekken: Dark Resurrection Namco Bandai 254,594 Patapon Sony Computer Entertainment 181,825 Star Wars: The Force Unleashed LucasArts 192,753 THIS is DS SW POWER: 1 New Super Mario Bros Nintendo 2,465,498 2 Pokemon Diamond / Pearl Nintendo 1,874,299 3 Nintendogs Nintendo 1,826,165 4 Mario Kart DS Nintendo 1,736,667 5 Brain Training Nintendo 1,665,166 6 More Brain Training Nintendo 1,609,219 7 Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon 2: Time / Darkness Exploration Team Nintendo 1,404,806 Strong 1st party casual friendly line-up. Thanks Crazzyman, that makes sense.
But then again, this explanation can be used for both formats, and is consistent with my belief that piracy is rampant on the DS too. That is to say, pirates are responsible for low sales of hardcore games on both the DS and PSP. The casual titles however remain unaffected.
