The story sucks indeed, which in no way makes the game worse IMO. The same way that Super Mario Galaxy doesn't need a good story to be a great game.
"Gameplay is playable" is a massive understatement though. No similar action game has such fluid controls at this playing speed and difficulty. God of War and DMC games are either slower, easier or both.
