I hear what you're saying seece and my intro to the amazing world of vgs was a lot like yours. I had played some sit down versions at bars, pumped rolls of quarters into arcade games and played my bro's Dreamcast like twice. To go from nothing to immersion in Combat Evolved, NG Black, CoD, etc. was a revelation. I had none of the hype for Fable so I was free to enjoy. Oblivion was my 360 system seller and since then I've been happy to be along for the ride.
That being said as a fellow lurker you know this site has a lot of members who look down on the millions of "noobs", "twitchers", "xbots" etc. who are flooding their domain. The PC people look down on all the consolers, PS dominated for long enough that their fans expect no less and the 7th gen. salesmonster has a history dating back to at least 1974. (yeah, yeah hanafuda cards in 1889 ease up).
M$ deserve some hate for trade and legal practices, Vista and a colossal underestimation of the internet bacllash against a known hardware fault, altogether now RROD! That has cost them a $1b repair bill and the trust of every game reviewer on earth. I think I can say that because 1. they all owned PS2s, 2. they probably had OS and harddrive probs on their PCs, and 3. they had to buy more than one 360 to review all those games and couldn't wait for Bill to write them a nice note and drop by with a replacement. This will cost at least 3.5 b in lost console and game sales. (figure is poma).
So whattaya say guys could we call it all even sometime in 2009.
My own experience has been just 12 days downtime in tens of thousands of hours of enjoyment and they paid for the shipping. (Right I'll get a life next week for sure). Not sure if this helped or hurt your argument but I sure enjoyed it so just let me get on my asbestos shorts and flame on superheroes?
