I watched the Dark Knight at an IMAX cinema, and all the proper IMAX bits are a different aspect ratio. It's just the way it was filmed rather than anything wierd with Blu-Ray.

Also I got the Blu-Ray for Christmas - hoping to watch it tonight so I'll let you know my thoughts. I've got a 37" 1080p set - the Sharp LC37XD1E which was one of the first LCDs with decent black levels (which IMO is much more important than contrast ratio).

My recommendation if you want to be impressed by Blu-Ray is to get Planet Earth - it's probably the best wildlife documentary I've seen, and filmed throughout with fantastic cameras. I watched the series on TV first time around, and later saw the full HD version playing in a shop on a demo unit (properly set up!!). It became one of the main reasons I got a PS3, and was the first Blu-Ray I bought.
