its not the parts really, i think its the importing taxes sony has to pay for to put their consoles on shelfs that totals 35 euros.

don't see why everyone is having a heartattack and saying sony will go out of business because of ps3. won't happen, why. because they sold the ps3 with a lost because they know they will make their money selling games. and home is just adding to that profit because all the ppl buying virtual clothers, advertisements, companies make their own space on home pay sony for it

PS- if you have a problem with home clothes, etc in the mall you have to pay for. you didn't pay for home, sony could have easily charged $60 for it, and i dobut most of ya will ever spend $60 on virtual stuff so quit complaining

Right now Sony is near breaking even with the system.  If they drop the price another $50 or $100 then they are back to losing.  With all of the billions they have lost already, it would be silly for them to continue on the loss road.  Will Sony go under?  I seriously doubt that would ever happen, however it could seriously be an end to their gaming division.

Sony made several serious mistakes with the PS3,  1) Blu-Ray 2) Cell 3) The complexity of making software for the system overall.   With the system being out a few years, now Blu-Ray is one of its only saving point at this time.  I probably would never have purchased a PS3 without the Blu-ray player.  But it was a catch 22.  Without the Blu-ray player being in it from the start I probably would have owned one launch day, as long as that would have made the system a lot cheaper.
