Apparently both Gears and Lost Planet due the same thing, they play fine until a certain level or transition and then lock up. The guess is that playing up that point overheats the GPU and when you hit the massive load of the particular level/transition the GPU locks up. It's a popular method from what I've read to 3RRoD your 360 before Halo 3 arrives.

The next game I'm getting for my 360 is Mass Effect, I really couldn't care less about Halo 3. I would really rather not RRoD my 360 on purpose since I use it as my DVD player and I don't want to dig my old one out of whatever box I put it in. >_>

Ahhh, well most 360 owners seem to be interested in Halo 3. I'm sure you can understand they don't won't it dying on them in the middle of Halo 3. I guess I could mention the towel trick, water dipping (can't believe someone actually did that), DIY heatsinks and other warranty voiding ideas but I don't want to upset Legend11 anymore with my "FUD" from 360 owners.

Those only work if my 360 is actually overheating though.  Like I said, my 360 isn't any warmer than usual, I let it cool off for a while before trying to load again, and I'm even playing a DVD in it as I type and there's no RRoD.  I'm pretty sure this isn't a RRoD issue.
