If you call MS customer support they will send you a transfer cable and disk for free. Got mine in 5 business days. All you have to do is call them, give them your console serial number, and they will send the cable.
You can always go to your gamertag download history and re-download you prior items. Anything and everything you have ever downloaded, purchased, ect, is listed under it. I mainly needed the cord to transfer music, and a few saved games (have a memory card too).
