Since nobody mentioned it; it isn't that incommon (although, VGC is getting more and more accepted all the time) to a lot of the sites to diss VGC (i actually ran into argument once with one site admin about VGC). Part of the reason is that people view the site as a provider of weekly figures and missing the whole picture.
As i see it, there two very valuable things that VGC provides: weekly figures with a close enough accuracy (it really doesn't matter whether Wii sold this this week 1,6 or 1,7 million units, when it opposes 500k units of PS3) and the historical data. You very rarely see VGC being bashed for its recorded sales history and graphs, since this is the only site you're able to find them.

Where it matters is on the rare circumstance when records are broken or milestones reached. The Wii MAY have set a record with 1m sales last week in the Americas, but since the PS2, the current record holder, is within the 10% margin of error (with 960k), so using the VGChartz numbers to say the Wii actually HAS set the record would be premature.
