I will say no for a different reason. I think the leaders at Nintendo called it when they made the comparison to the problem of having too many large predatory dinosaurs compete for territory. Nintendo had not won 2 generations. They needed a win to remain a contender, or at least they needed to not take another ass stomping in terms of market share. I still remember polls in various gaming magazines where readers sometimes debated the likely hood of Nintendo going the way of Sega. Nintendo could not have made a traditional HD console that had any of the ability to sell as well as the Wii. It would have been the Gamecube all over again, but likely less profitable. I am very glad they chose a different path.
