And if we want to break it down further, Christianity in its current form, ironically, actually is the definition of idolatry.

But moreover, the whole concept of "going to heaven" is tradition, and is not actually founded within the Bible.  The Catholic Church created the concept of "going to heaven" to give their minions something to fear.

From the beginnings of the Catholic Church, they decided to keep their people in line my screaming, "Heaven or Hell, golden streets or fiery damnation, it's your choice".

But, the Bible does not state that if you are "righteous" you will go to Heaven... that's something that the Catholic Church made up to keep their followers in line by promising an award that didn't exist.  There are rewards that even the New Testament speaks of, but even J.C. didn't promise that the righteous go to Heaven.  He stated that the righteous will have a place to come in the new world... the "New Earth" that J.C. promises to his followers.
