In case anyone is interested in playing a pretty decent WW1 Flight Sim game heavily modled after the Red Baron series, by a bit of the former Red Baron staff at Mad Otter.
Since Sierra/Vivendi own the Red Baron franchise, it couldn't be named Red Baron 3, but the fact is - it's very reminicent of the old Red Baron/Aces of series, it stands pretty decent against them.
Of course, the major difference is that you can jump in on some great gaming for free. IA recently announced that all games would become free with no strings attached, and Aces is the first game to be released under that mantra. Every gamer gets as many plays as they want of Aces for free - any map possible. The only upselling is a few extra planes, but the ones they give you are pretty good.
Currently, the game supports 8 player multiplayer, and there is always a game going on that you can jump into to start the battle(s). I believe that there are a total of 8 different allied & central power planes available for free. If you've been waiting for some great flight sim/fighter combat gaming for free, this is it.
There are no major downloads or clients to download - just a small plugin that weighs in at 50k or so....It litterally takes you about 5 minutes to sign in to start playing online with others.
