No it's not. It has a completely different set of controls. In my opinion it's worse off.
To the OP. I like my PSP, but when I see recommendations for one, I always mention this one thing. Make sure you are cool with the games that have already been released for the handheld and the couple of future releases it has left thus far. For all intents and purposes, the PSP may never pick up in support again.
I don't have anything to add to the games recommended. My entire collection has already been mentioned.
I'll just name my personal top three:
1. Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
2. Burnout Legends
3. God of War: Chains of Olympus
Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.
