MikeB, the phrase "1080p" means the full resolution of 1920 x 1080 in progressive scan mode with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It is NOT related to just the number of vertical lines. This is not some generalization of what people expect but what the phrase actually refers to.

It's easier to say, "1080p" than it is to say, "1920 by 1080 resolution in progressive scan mode with a 16 by 9 aspect ratio".

You are playing the semantics card which isn't working. Because 1080p as a standard requires a 16:9 ratio, guess what the horizontal resolution has to be? Yeah, 1920 lines.

Instead of debating such inane semantics, why not go do some research?
