Eh, I disagree strongly to be honest. If the gameplay was slower and more platform-oriented, then it would of have been maybe an AAA title.
Example: Sonic's (and Shadow's) stages in Adventures 1 and 2. Except for Final Rush, what an awful stage.
Of course, I'm not saying the day stages are terrible, they're actually pretty fun sometimes but they feel pretty flawed to me.
