I have been wondering this for a while.

I know that you can use the internet on your PS3 and all that, but I would like some help with the specifics:

1) How good (or bad) is it?

It's average, a few weeks ago I would've said "terrible" but they've upgraded the flash player, I recommend it for light browsing, mainly.
2) How fast (or slow) is it?

It's certainly not as fast as a desktop browser, but it won't cause you to much pain.
3) How is the layout (like IE or Mozzilla or something different)?

It doesn't function like any desktop browser, it doesn't have the means of interfacing with the user. Unless you have a keyboard/mouse plugged in, you have to navigate using your DS3, which can be a pain in the arse.

4) Is it ok using a controller to navigate?

Like I said above, it's a pain in the arse. I mean, it's not impossible to use, but you either have little control on where the cursor goes (using the d-pad to jump between the hyperlinks on the page), or it's too slow (using the analogue stick), still, for light browsing, it won't get to you that much.

4) Can I check e-mail, watch videos, post on VGChartz (), etc. or are there limitations?

I can use it to get to my Google mail account, I haven't tried Hotmail, or any other providers. VGChartz works fine - except that the post width is a little greater than the screen width on my TV when I click in, and so you have to continuously scroll across (which isn't that difficult in itself, it just means that you may lose your place). Watching videos is fine, Youtube works, as do a lot of other sites. Flash games that only require the mouse also work quite well, like tower defense games.

The only real limitation is resolution/screen size. My TV is 1080, but because my screen is a distance away, I have to zoom in to read, which means that not all content fits on the screen, but it's not a big issue.

Quick posting works on the browser just fine, I haven't tried the advanced post editor, though.

For UK users: BBC iPlayer works perfectly, it loads a customized version built for the PS3's browser. With ITV and CH4 taking on the technology, that could be something to consider instead of using PlayTV.

Thanks to anybody that can answer any of those questions.
