hrmm . . didn't know you were using Vista. Sorry to here that! Looks like you either have a bad driver, or software trying to install something that is failing. Since you mention AIM, try uninstalling it. If you have installed anything else recently, remove that as well. Better yet, check through the event log for when that error first appeared, then check a few entries before that. Read them all. Installed software usually gets put in the event log, so you can tell what caused the problem. You have to do some sleuthing. You can also search the net for EventID:7031, or any others you get, along with the source. In this case, the Service Control Manager. Chances are, if you have a problem, someone else has had the same one and may have a solution.
