I dont know about delicate wording. I translated the reviews and its pretty straight forward stuff. These concise reviews tend to be that way since they have little space to work with in this particular layout. But I do agree that the Japanese culture and Western cultures differ greatly in their understanding and praise of things in general. This of course includes games.
As far as Famitsu goes they have always been biased towards certain types of games like RPGs and Strategy games. Thats why I was a bit surprised by WKC's score. For a game with so much to offer it seems like it would have been praised. However, it was probably missing the indescribable gaming mojo that seperates great games from average ones. It's just one of those things that cant be explained easily because it is basically the sum of everything. Thus the reviewers invariably choose to focus on the little things. And we get these types of reviews.
I think everyone was expecting a lot and this sub par review will likely hurt their sales in Japan. But the overseas markets are another story. Im curious to see how it is reviewed by westerners.
