Towards the end of Fear Effect on the PS1 there was the coolest scene. Unexpectedly the two remaining protagonist mercenaries, Hana and Glas, are pitted against one another because they have been tricked. They are literarily pointing guns at each others faces and I had to decide which one died. Either way, the survivor goes on to fight a different end boss and gets their own unique ending. That was my biggest holy shit moment from a game. Having to choose like that because they are both really likable characters I had been playing through the whole game with so I had an attachment to the two. I was totally like WTF.
You should have played throught the game on hard. You get a third option.
Here it is.
Wow. I had no ideal. I never tried it on hard. It was a difficult game on normal. And I see in the third ending everyone survives.
Just looking back on this game makes me remember how good it was. It was one of the first to use cell shading properly, and it had a totally adult oriented story. It was one of my favorites at the time, and I enjoyed the follow up. Too bad they never made another after that.
