That is a poor review.

I read them and here are what they say.

First guy: The White Knight Keren and the enemy Boss' powers are good. The offline play is well balanced and can be played without having to strain oneself, but there are several little annoying aspects of the game play. The online play where you can talk and adventure with a friends in realtime could use an auto battle and auto run system. Its difficult to chat while running around or fighting.

score 7

Second guy: Being able to make your own combos, change your AC, and developing individual skills through battle is fun. The large enemies in the game are amazingly powerful. The online chat is difficult to do but they set up the online like a social networking site (SNS) and there seems to be the possibility for large network communication.

score 8

What the fuck?????

So the scores are lowered by 2 and 3 because of some damn communication issues?????? The first dude wanted "Auto-run" because he found it hard to talk and play?????

Is it like SOCOM where you have to hold down some button to speak or something??? WTF!!!???

I'm picking this game up. This review = BS to me...

I don't know how many times this has already been said on this board. Never read the Famitsu reviews, only look at their score. Famitsu respects the game developer and rarely put down a game, even if it sucks.

You may think it's worthless, but Famitsu has a lot of credibility in Japan. Also, this is not just a single review saying the game is mediocre, 4 reviewers are saying the game is mediocre. Unless Sony pulls a Microsoft and markets this game properly (which they won't) it will hardly sell.

If they can't explain the reason for the score then they fail as reviewers.

I don't live in Japan.
And so what if it has alot of "Credibility" there. That has shit to do with what I think of Famitsu reviews. Read what I typed.... "This review = BS to me..."

I never thought that scores of 7/10 and 8/10 were considered "Mediocre"...... I'm shocked right now. So what's a good game to you, 90%+??? To me, I judge how good a game is b4 buying it by READING some reviews.... wtf am I supposed to do with this review???

Wish I could have typed this last night but my connection was freaking out.

You do realize that what you read is only a Summary of the view? The review itself is actually a lot longer and lists more pluses and (rarely) negatives of the game. What you read is just a summary of it. I don't think you understand how big Famitsu is in Japan and how much amazing content they have in it. Even if you don't agree with the scores, not giving Famitsu the credit it deserves is insulting. If you want to know why the game got such poor reviews, pay someone to translate the entire article then have them point out the subtle differences between Japanese and western cultures. "It needs work" is basically saying "It sucks." I'm sorry if it doesn't bluntly say "IT SUCKS BECAUSE IT'S BORING" in huge red letters. You need to read in between the lines.

And yes, A score of 29 is mediocre to me. If I personally gave a game a 29 out of 40, that means I didn't like it that much. I am confident enough to not care about what reviewers say though. If they had reviewed and given Mass Effect a 10 out of 40, I would have attributed it to cultural differences and purchased the game anyways. It would have lowered sales of the game, I know that it would, but I wouldn't be angry at someone for expressing their opinion. And I certainly would not go on forums and insult well established and respected company. I'm not aiming this at you or anyone in particular, just the obvious console zealots.

As for what to do with this review, the answer is simple. Ignore it. If you want to get the game then don't let a review stop you from getting it. However, western reviewers usually give games a poorer score than Famitsu. Just wait for a reviewer that you trust and base your purchasing decision on that if you're unsure.

I've ben coming to VGChartz for a long time but just recently decided to make an account. To be honest, I regret it so far. This place has more fanboys than any other forum I've ever been. I know we're discussing games and that most of the posters are probably in High School or younger, but age is no excuse for ignorance.

That will be the biggest challenge to overcome at VGC; just ignoring those kinds of people. VGC is a mess when it comes to the community. Ignorance is bliss around here. Even practically every mod here is bias to one console or another.

You've had the bad luck to be arguing with one of those kinds of people. Just ignore him, or write 1-3 sentence answers in response, rather then really pointing out facts. Don't indulge idiocy.
