I think this could be part of a potentially great marketing move by Sony.
Different ads advertising the different features of PS3 at different times on different channels.
I.E advertise games on teen/post teen channels (Nicol., MTV etc), Blu-Ray on tech type channes (Nat. Geo, Discovery etc.), Downloadable movies on general interest channels.

Targeted ads to targeted groups, make make different groups aware of the different aspects of the system some people either didn't know about or would generally interest them.

Trying to advertise everything in one ad would just be too much overload
