Looks like you know a lot about wikipedia, so I'm sure you know that a survey was made (european or french survey?) to know if wikipedia was as reliable as a traditionnal encyclopedia (don't know if this word exist in english) and guess what? Wikipedia is as reliable as a traditionnal encyclopedia (5% mistakes both).
And you know why? Because the site is filled with information from people who take it seriously and who who want to share their knowledge. So no, I didn't use it for my studies, but I like to go check it when I don't know something.
