Games series don't die...they just go into hiatus.
Seriously, there's no way publishers can say "no" to a popular name like Need for Speed. But it looks like maybe it will switch devs and get a break for a year...which isn't a bad thing from the sounds of the comments here. (I haven't played a Need For Speed since Hot Pursuit...which I thought was pretty good).
