Curse me for defending a PS3 game, but you have to juggle a number of factors when considering the lengthof the game. Most RE games could be completed in very little time, but there were substantial extras to encourage playing it 2, 3 or 4 times. In many ways I'd rather play a good, tight short game than one that meanders and needlessly stretches the story out (RE4 springs to mind as a game that would have benefitted from a shorter length).
