anyone who thinks the economic crisis is going to be over next year is crazy. it's definitely going to get worse before it gets better. companies are still just starting to cut back and if major sectors don't get their bail out packages that they are hoping for then you can expect there will be tons of lay offs.
if people aren't working then they're definitely not going to get their snot nosed kid an expensive console (and even $200 will be considered expensive... which makes me wonder if i should have pre-ordered the SF4 TE FightStick).
OT-ish: Sony has been doing progressively better year-over-year. Even now it's sales are pretty good... just not as good as the XBox360 and Wii.
I really don't know what to expect from next year's sales for the ps3. People say that entertainment is recession-proof, but there are cheaper alternatives to the expensive ps3.
