| ChronotriggerJM said: Selnor, I think your taking it too much as an insult >_> Games like Halo CAN'T and I mean CAN'T have complicated game mechanics, the more substance you have, the easier it is to lose audience. Halo is the most basic shooter I've ever played. It doesn't mean you can't have fun with it at all, it just means the fun you get out of it is pretty standard shooter stuff. It doesn't really have a mechanic to call it's own. It's barebones >_>;;; It's a generic shooter with tons of polish. And that's fine. It's not a bad game, in fact as you claim it's "near perfect", which means that they got standard FPS gameplay to a "near perfect" state. Good for them :) Just entirely too casual, and not rewarding enough to play and master in my opinion. |
I disagree. If youve had the priveledge to watch the Legendary special edition double DVD set, it shows what the community is like. There is (and stated on the DVD) now over 7 million community Halo members. There is no other game that has a hardcore userbase that plays a game, talks a game, and does nothing but online and lan Halo. Seriously these guys are hardcore to the bone.
Above is a site that is done by fans for fans. The fans even had the story to Halo 3 mapped out on this site before anything was said about it. Just fanboys saying what it most likely will be. Amazing loyal hardcore fanbase for a generic shooter? And why do teams like PMS destroy any self proclaimed FPS player?
Above is what I meant about, if you dont know why Halo is loved then dont bother trying to understand. If you dont love the game to the very bones of you (like professing it as generic or slightly above average) then you will never ever get it. I as many do in the Halo community (7mill+) think Masterchief is the best game character. Many will disagree on this site. But the sales arent due to generics. They are due to a loyal fanbase that love Halo.
