Wait wait wait let me see if I have this right Leo-J. Rather than believe the person who has completed the game and is a neutral judge. You are choosing to believe the developer. Someone who has a very high personal stake in the game? And the fact that developers are notorious for overstating how long their games are doesn't affect you either? Whenever developers announce a length for their game the first thing people on forums do is knock a few hours off. Because they know how these things work.
They tell you how long it would take to complete the game, if you did every single thing, and got lost for a bit, then stuck for a bit etc, and decided to spend a few minutes looking around every single area you came to just in case you missed something. They are not normal playthroughs, they are extended playthroughs.
The developers and back of the box of Tales of Symphonia tells me it's an 80hour + game but I know that's not true. 55hours and I had done the main story and all side quests.
