As we have discussed for a while now, the whole "hardcore gamer" mentality is rather stupid and childish. Rather than trying to enjoy what EVERY console has to offer (including the Wii) they try hard to be "cool" and only play games that "fit" their mentality. Worst of all, many gaming publications and websites (which are supposed to be ABOVE typical gamer mentality) cater to these people, making them look elitist, pathetic and idiotic.
Which websites and magazines enforce this silly idea the best?
Here are my picks;
Games Radar: This might be the worst. Everything just screams "juvenile". Many of their lists are pathetic attempts at humor (they are really just bashing games for no real reason). And really, they love to oogle a digital breasts (like sexy fanart, sexy coverage and even sexy cosplay).
Game Informer: What annoys me is they constant coverage of "mature" titles while the small and quirky titles are saved for a very, very small part of the magazine. They cater to the hardcore gamer so hard I am surprised the magazine has not crumbled under its own elitism.
Game Daily: Like Games Radar, their constant reliance on lists make them look like they are scrapping for content. This sometimes make them look hypocritical as they praise games on one lists, bashes them on another, not knowing where their true intentions lie. They also spew a bit of elitism. For example, they complained about non gamers playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band in a list, and claimed it was a sign that music games were cool anymore. Not to mention they have the worst Tales of Symphonia review ever written.
