You could be right there.
As pristine20 pointed out there’s more than one sort of hardcore gamer. Probably three sorts, though they all blend together:
First, there’s the big guns and fast cars brigade. Second, the competitive team sports. Third, the completionist seeking perfection. All three are forms of obsessive behaviour. The opposite of ‘hardcore’ isn’t ‘casual’. The opposite of ‘hardcore’ is ‘normal’.
