That's a decent point.

The obvious answer would be a misjudgement on sales expectations.

But then that still doesn't answer why they've shipped a million now and not some time ago, because saying it now would suggest they've just shipped some more whereas the sales would suggest that no stores need any more because they won't've sold out of their first lot.
